Dear Oil Lover,
New Beginnings

The 25th April will mark ten years to the day since dōTERRA was founded. From its humble beginnings, dōTERRA has grown into a global company that promotes health and wellbeing through the use of essential oils and supplements. Today, millions of customers use and share their love of oils on a daily basis and business is booming.

There has never been a better time to enrol as a dōTERRA customer. Having your own account means that you can immediately start reaping the benefits that using essential oils has on your physical and mental wellbeing. If you enrol as a customer this month with an order worth 100PV or more, dōTERRA will reward you with a gift of 50 products points. This is a great incentive to enrol. But, what does it actually mean? Here’s the breakdown.

  • It costs £24 to open a dōTERRA account.
  • Once you have your own account, everything you purchase attracts wholesale pricing which is 25% less than retail pricing.
  • Each dōTERRA product has both a monetary and a points value (PV).
  • If you enrol with an order worth 100PV or more this month, dōTERRA will gift you 50 product points (50PV). You can use the points to purchase products at a future date.
  • For example, Lemon oil costs £9.30 to purchase and has 12PV. Peppermint oil costs £16.80 and has 22PV. Wild Orange costs £9.00 and has 12PV.
  • If you bought all three oils, it would cost you £35.10 or 46 product points, leaving you with points to put towards another purchase.

Spotlight on TriEase

Before I moved to London many years ago, I had never suffered from hay fever and its common symptoms of sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes. Since then I have tried a variety of anti-histamines and generally buy whatever big-name brand is on offer. Last year I tried TriEase for the first time. I was impressed. I took two softgels in the morning and I didn’t feel bunged-up nor did I have a thick head. There was no sneezing. Admittedly, they made me burp a bit (sorry!) but all I could taste was peppermint. To top it off, I was happy in the knowledge that the softgels are natural and so my body was in safe hands.

What does dōTERRA say about the TriEase softgels? Well, they were developed to protect against seasonal and environmental threats and to promote a healthy respiratory system when needed most. Each softgel contains equal parts of Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint essential oils, known for their ability to maintain clear breathing and a healthy immune response when combined together. The combination of oils in a softgel means that they are easy to take and easy to digest.

Consider trying TriEase when you are next reaching for the hay fever tablets!

Tried and Tested with Sylvia

Last month, in honour of Mothers Day, I invited my mother Sylvia to contribute to the Newsletter. Her recipes for cleaning products were very well received and as promised, this month she is reporting on her attempts to make furniture polish. I am pleased to report that I have persuaded her to provide us with a make your own recipe every month. Tried and Tested with Sylvia is born! Here is what she has to say...

In March I told you that I would be testing a recipe for furniture polish as part of my annual spring clean. Here’s the recipe: 60ml olive oil, 60ml white vinegar, 10 drops each of Wild Orange, Lemon and Arborvitae. Place in a screw top bottle (preferably glass) and shake. Apply with a soft cloth.

As the olive oil and vinegar don’t mix, you’ll need to shake the bottle vigorously each time you use it. The smell of vinegar is quite strong initially but it doesn’t last for long. I’m not a huge fan of Arborvitae (I don’t much like the smell) but it is a powerful cleansing and purifying agent. I tried the polish on sideboard and a nest of tables and it made a slight difference to the sheen. I then tried it on some unwaxed wood and you can see the result in the picture below.
Wow - what a difference! Overall, I would say that I think it’s great for wood furniture that needs nourishing and doesn’t have a veneer and I will be using this every 2-3 months as part of my cleaning routine.

This month I’ll be testing a recipe for cleaning my oven, definitely not my favourite chore, so this will be a big challenge!

What’s In Store Next Month?

The months of May and June signal a busy time for students as revision timetables are planned with optimism and exams nerves kick-in. We will consider which oils can help with focus and concentration and keeping those nerves in check.

Sylvia will be reporting on her oven-cleaning recipe. I, for one, am grateful that I have not been roped in to help out!
