September 2018

Dear Friends,

Welcome to September's Newsletter.

September is officially the new January in this household! I have been pondering for a while the issue of why I generally wait until gloomy January to re-assess my personal objectives and business goals. Why not commit to making "resolutions" more than once a year? Is there a way of tackling my daily / weekly / monthly grumbles with a new perspective?

I believe that there is such thing as fate but I also very much believe in my ability to change things that I am unhappy with and in "making my own luck". I also believe in threes (come and watch me in court one day and you'll observe there are always three submissions in my speech to the jury). Three is the magic number, right?!

Three things have come together for me in the past week. Two of these I had complete control over. Firstly, I committed to some coaching sessions with Georgina Bowden (
https://georginabowdencoaching.comSecondly, I spent a good few hours with wonderful friends and business associates Alex Willis and Caroline Lamont creating a Vision Board to inspire and motivate me (now in pride of place in the kitchen).

The third thing? Well call it fate or call it luck but it has completed my trio in the most wonderful way! As we were busily creating our Vision Boards, Caroline surprised Alex and myself with copy for each of us of this fantastic MyndMap Journal
https://www.myndmap.co It is billed as the ultimate mindfulness, gratitude and goals planning journal: "A 90-day mindfulness journal to get you unstuck, and feel inspired, empowered and excited about life again". Little did Caroline know that I was on the look-out for precisely this sort of Journal - a place to record my thoughts and set some kick-ass goals. A completely unexpected and utterly perfect gift. Thank you, dear Caroline.

Tried and Tested with Sylvia

Well, hasn’t the summer been glorious?! After a long hot summer’s day walking around Cardiff with my niece Jessie, I couldn’t think of anything better (apart from a chilled glass of wine!) than dipping my feet into a soothing foot soak. We tried out the following recipe:

Mint Lime Foot Soak

  • 300g Epsom Salts
  • Zest of one Lime
  • 4 drops of dōTERRA Lime
  • 3 drops of dōTERRA Peppermint
  • 2 or 3 drops of green food colouring (optional)
  • Mix all the ingredients together and place in jars. Add a handful to a bowl of warm water and insert feet!

Jessie and I sat watching the television while our feet soaked for 20 minutes. Verdict? One of the best recipes to date. Our feet felt nourished and pampered and no, they didn’t turn a shade of green!

Another successful recipe was a summery body spray.

Grapefruit and Lavender Body Spray
  • 200 mms Distilled Water
  • 1 tablespoon Witch Hazel
  • 13 drops dōTERRA Grapefruit
  • 4 drops dōTERRA Lavender
  • Add the ingredients to a spray bottle, shake and spritz!
Grapefruit and Lavender Body Spray
This is light and fruity spray, perfect for a hot summer’s day. It would also work well as a pillow spray, perhaps increasing the quantity of Lavender and adding Lemon or another oil of you choice.

  Oils and Supplements to support Digestion

Sometimes called "The Second Brain", the gut plays an imperative role in our overall wellbeing. Given that the wall of the gut houses approximately 70% of the cells that make up our immune system, this is perhaps unsurprising. Beneficial bacteria in the gut has the ability to affect the body's vitamin and mineral absorbency, hormone regulation, digestion, vitamin production and the ability to eliminate toxins. When digestive problems are present, natural remedies offer ample opportunity for balance and restoration.

Using dōTERRA oils can assist with removing harmful bacteria whilst the supplements encourage growth of good bacteria. DigestZen (currently being re-branded as Zengest) is a blend that comes in many forms, including: -
  • DigestZen essential oil in a 15ml bottle (place a drop under your tongue);
  • Pre-diluted with Fractionated Coconut Oil in the form of DigestZen Touch (roll over your tummy area);
  • In a convenient Digestzen softgel (perfect for when you're on the go);
The blend itself is a combination of Ginger, Peppermint, Caraway, Anise, Coriander, Tarragon and Fennel. The Digestzen products are among the most popular dōTERRA products for supporting digestive issues. dōTERRA says: "DigestZen is a wonderful companion to aid in the digestion of food, soothe occasional upset stomachs, and reduce uncomfortable gas and bloating".
